Canberra man pleads guilty to running over police officer, admits he was high on methamphetamines
A Canberra man who ran over a police officer, driving with him on the bonnet of the car for 30 metres, has pleaded guilty to the hit and run in Queanbeyan Local Court.
Stephen McCracken, 30, and a co-accused were driving from police in two stolen vehicles in a high-speed police chase in Nimmitabel, near the Snowy Mountains, last August, documents tendered to the court revealed.
When police exited the car to arrest the co-accused, officers said he jumped into McCracken's vehicle, before McCracken drove the car into one of the two arresting officers, Senior Constable Jason Farrell.
Court documents revealed the officer remained on the bonnet for about 30 metres before he was thrown and landed face down on the road.
